Who is CANADAHELPS?
CanadaHelps is a registered charity (CANADAHELPS CANADON, BN:896568417RR0001). We’re dedicated to increasing charitable giving across Canada and serve both donors and charities.
For donors, we offer a one-stop shop for discovering, donating, or fundraising online for any registered Canadian charity. We process donations, send the funds to the charities, and provide instant tax receipts directly to the donors.
For charities, we provide open access to our affordable, secure online fundraising platform and training so they can better connect with their supporters. As a non-profit, our fees are a fraction of for-profit alternatives. So donation dollars go further and work harder when donors give using CanadaHelps!

Filing with the CRA On the annual T3010 report you file with the Canada Revenue Agency, the above donations should be reported as a “total amount received from other registered charities” (line 4510).
Canadahelps Fees
CanadaHelps FeesCanadaHelps is a self-funded charity and we charge a transaction fee between 2% – 5.5% of donations, depending on the type of donation made (i.e., where the donation is made):
Customizable Donation Forms (CDF): 3.75%
Ticketed Events management: 5.0%
Peer-to-Peer social fundraising (P2P): 5.5%
Securities donations (stocks or mutual funds): 2.0-3.0%*
* 3% fee applies to donations less than $10,000; 2.5% fee applies to donations between $10,000-$49,999; 2.25% fee applies to donations between $50,000-$99,999; 2% fee applies to donations $100,000+
One-time donations from your Charity Profile: 4.0%
All Monthly donations (including those made through CDF, Charity Profile, and P2P^): 3.5%
We deduct the transaction fee from the donation before sending it to your charity, and it covers all aspects of processing the transaction, including the credit card merchant rate, credit card transaction charge, reconciliation, tax-receipting, and disbursement-related costs. Overall, just 1.8% of each donation comes back to CanadaHelps, so we can continue to build the new and innovative online fundraising tools that small-to-medium charities need, at the best, non-commercial rates.
HOW DO I ACCESS MY MONTHLY DONATIONS?
To access your monthly donations, log into your donor account and select the tab “Monthly Donations” tab. All active monthly donations under your account will be listed. To the right of each monthly donation, you will find a button titled “Actions”; click on this button, and then on “Edit”, and all details pertaining to your monthly donation will be available to review and edit.
Multiple monthly donations can also be created and managed within your donor account. You can use the search engine near the top of the “Monthly Donations” tab, or any CanadaHelps charity donation form, to set up more monthly donations under your account. You may also cancel your monthly donation by selecting the “Stop this payment” option under the “Actions” menu.
CAN I SAVE MY PAYMENT INFORMATION TO MAKING A DONATION EASIER?
You can! Your credit card information can be saved to your donor account. You can do this in two different ways.
The first is to simply create or log in to your donor account, access your account settings, and scroll down to the section called “Your Payment Information”. Y You’ll be able to simply type in your card details and hit the “Save” button once you are done.
For the second, you will need a donor account already created. Start making a donation, and once you are on the payment screen, log into your account if you weren’t already in, fill in your card details, and select the checkbox next to the “Save credit card information on file” option. Once your donation is complete, your card details will be saved to your account!
As for PayPal, it cannot be linked to your account for one-time donations. You will need to log in to your PayPal account at the end of each transaction on the CanadaHelps website if choosing this payment method.
CAN I TRUST THE SECURITY OF THE CANADAHELPS PLATFORM?
Absolutely. We work hard to keep all of your information safe and secure. CanadaHelps complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). That means we spend a lot of our time and resources on updating the security of our payment processes. As part of that compliance, we don’t actually store your credit card information on our servers, but can recall your encrypted information in order to save you time when you donate. We protect your other information, too. We’ll never share your personal information with any charity unless you ask us to, and even then only if that charity has signed our privacy agreement. How Do I GEt A TAX RECEIPT FOR MY MONTHLY DONATIONS?
By default, no receipt will be issued for monthly donations before the start of a new year, when we automatically generate the receipts and send you an email so you can download it. There is no action required on your part to make this happen. If, however, you require a tax receipt for donations made so far in the year, or are putting a stop to your donations and want a receipt right away, you can log into your donor account, access the “Donations & Receipts” tab, and click on the “Generate Receipt” button to create a tax receipt for all the donations without a receipt in your account.
WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS FOR DONATING THROUGH CANADAHELPS?
There are three payment options available for one-time donations – Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Visa Debit), Paypal, or CanadaHelps Gift Cards. However, the CanadaHelps Gift Cards cannot be used if you are making a monthly donation.

WHEN ARE MONTHLY DONATIONS PROCESSED IN OUR SYSTEM?
Monthly donations are processed automatically at the end of every month. Within 24 hours you will receive an email for confirmation.
